Prelim Filming and Analysis

This is the film for the prelim task which is a conversation between two poeple. This involves filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchange a couple of lines in dialogue.
This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180 degree rule.
In this task we chose to base it around 2 friends that haven't really talked for a while and they bump into each other/catch up. They start to talk about how one of them is looking for her long lost sister and it turns out that her friend is the sister she has been so desperate to meet.

A strength in our filming is adhering to the 180 degree rule as we made sure that whilst filming the camera did not pass the line of action unless it was shown crossing the line. Another shot that we used and made sure was correct is the match on action shot as we was able to represent and show this when the door was opened as we filmed the persons point of view.

A weakness within this clip would be the shot reverse shot as we start to do it but change shot instead of carrying it on. Another weakness within this clip would be the noises in the background as this makes it harder for you to make out what the two girls are staying in their conversation, this was the reason why we chose to re-film this.

in preparation for our final film opening I will have to make sure that we choose a setting that doesn't have much going on so that we wont have any additional sound in the background. This will improve the next project we make as it will help the audience understand what the characters are saying.
Another thing we need to concentrate on and improve is the shot reverse shot as we started it but didn't finish it off. We need to concentrate on this shot and make sure we follow and include this in out next project to ensure we get the best possible marks.
